Jean Mason Kraus Jean was raised in Kahoka, Missouri with his parents and two brothers. He was an artist and attended Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville, Missouri (now called Truman State University). He majored in art and taught art in Northeast Missouri. He was talented, and he used his talents to inspire others. He was drafted and sent to Viet Nam where he died. His parents gave most of the insurance money to Northeast Missouri State University for the art department. I believe an art gallery there is a memorial to Jean.
